Mentor to pastors Posted on August 24th
Rev. Connie M. Kleingartner, a professor at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, used the latest theories from business and politics to teach fledgling pastors how to lead congregations.
Rev. Kleingartner, 60, died Thursday, Aug. 21, of complications from inflammatory breast cancer in Seasons Hospice in Chicago, said her sister Shelly Hanenburg.
Rev. Kleingartner was the director of field education and an associate professor of evangelism and church ministries at the Lutheran School of Theology in Hyde Park, which she joined in 1995.
A veteran pastor who served congregations in Iowa and Minnesota for 20 years, Rev. Kleingartner made sure her students had the tools to take the helm of large parishes.
