The sight of Steven R. Mucci smiling and chatting with employees on Saturday mornings while walking with his 10-year-old son through the sheet metal manufacturing company he led seemed to encapsulate what the longtime Elmhurst resident was all about, loved ones say.

Mr. Mucci, 50, president of Ability Metal Co. in Elk Grove Village, died in Elmhurst Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 21, of complications from a heart attack.

Born in Chicago, Mr. Mucci grew up in Elmhurst in a family of four children. He graduated from York Community High School in 1976 and received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ripon College in Wisconsin in 1980.
