Joseph Brancato | Bank manager, 41 Posted on March 21st

Joseph Brancato, 41, of Northeast Philadelphia, a bank manager and motorcycle enthusiast, died of cancer at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia on Tuesday, three weeks after the disease was diagnosed.

Mr. Brancato was a mortgage broker and branch manager at Countrywide Bank in Huntingdon Valley. Before joining the bank in 2001, he was regional sales manager at NAPA Auto Parts for eight years.

A 1985 graduate of Holy Ghost Preparatory School in Bensalem, he attended St. Joseph’s and Temple Universities.

He enjoyed attending Eagles and Phillies games and playing softball, basketball, and golf. He loved riding his Harley-Davidson and had traveled cross-country by motorcycle.

“Joe was an upbeat, fun-loving, compassionate person,” said Bill Nicoletti, a longtime friend.

Mr. Brancato was involved in several charities, including Kicks for Kids. The organization, established by Eagles placekicker David Akers, assists children and families being cared for at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Mr. Brancato and Akers were friendly, and “Joe would get a charge out of texting Akers to see how he was doing before a big game,” Nicoletti said.

Mr. Brancato is survived by his wife, Christine Eppinger Brancato, whom he married in 2004; his sister, Linda; and two nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Albert the Great Church, 212 Welsh Rd., Huntingdon Valley, where friends may call after 9:30. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem.
